Response to “The Lottery”

First of all, I didn’t really like “The Lottery” because in the village, women weren’t allowed to draw the lottery for their families, which makes it seem like men are superior to women. Also, even though the ending surprised me, I didn’t like it because it involved violence. Apparently they don’t even discriminate between women and children when using violence. I think it was a bit disturbing, and we didn’t even get an explanation as to why they do such a thing.

  1. “The Lottery” shows us an example of clinging blindly to a tradition and killing innocent people in a violent way just because their ancestors did it. This story is disturbing, but it reminds us that there are still villages and tribes that kill people because of tradition.
